Utah Brand Photographer | Ava + Oliver

At the beginning of the year I decided to add commercial photography to the services that I offer. I didn’t realize how much I would love being a brand photographer. I get to work with the most amazing small business owners and help them show off their products with high-quality images.

Ava + Oliver is a mealtime essentials company based in Hawaii. They sell the most beautiful silicone mealtime products including bento boxes, bibs, plates, utensils, and more. This month they added sunglasses to their product-base. I have been lucky to work with them for several months now. Every time I receive the products in the mail I fall more in love with them.

Brand Photographer Services

When a brand books one of my packages, the first thing I do is send them a questionnaire. It’s important for me to get a feel for the company’s branding and colors. I also want to understand their vision. Brand photo sessions are typically broken into two parts: flat lay and lifestyle. Flat lay photos are any type of detail shots of the products without models. I typically lay them on a backdrop mat and shoot from above to give customers up-close and bird’s eye views of the colors and textures.

I will then coordinate a lifestyle shoot with at least 2 models. The goal with lifestyle photos is to help your customers envision themselves (or their kids) using your products. I let brands choose if they want lifestyle photos in front of a clean backdrop (wall or seamless paper), outdoors, or an in-home lifestyle setting.
