I have been lucky to be able to photograph this family the past several years. It’s so cool to watch them grow. We had decided on a location and then switched it up at the last minute. I had seen photos taken at Bountiful Pond but had never shot there when Skylie asked about it. I try to avoid photographing at new locations before scouting them out first but I didn’t get the chance this time. Bountiful Pond (also known as Bountiful Lake) is just off the freeway on the west side of Bountiful. It’s a beautiful location where many people come to fish, kayak, and paddle board.
I knew there was a spot that I wanted to find but did not realize how far it was from where we had parked. We started walking on the path that leads around the pond. I would stop for a few shots intermittently if the lighting and backdrop looked good. We got some great shots and the kids were about done. That was when I saw the most beautifully-lit field in the distance. Everyone rallied and we walked a bit more (Skylie had to take her shoes off) and I’m so glad we did! Although we were getting devoured by mosquitoes, the lighting was absolutely stunning. This area next to Bountiful Pond was one of the most magical spots I’d ever photographed at and this family rocked the whole session.
The longer I’ve been doing photography the more obsessed I get with family photos. It never gets old to be able to capture the most special and beautiful moments between family members, especially with little ones. Kids grow too quickly and I never wants parents to forget all of their little quirks and personalities.
