I chose to do Fall Mini Sessions at Jordan Pines Campground this year because you just can’t beat the fall colors up there! The Straatman family was so sweet. Their little one wasn’t feeling great but we were able to get some smiles out of her still.
Jordan Pines is located about 15 minutes up Big Cottonwood Canyon. It is one of my favorite Utah locations with its stunning mountain views. I like that you don’t have to walk too far to get the most breathtaking backdrops. This location is gorgeous year-round, although can be tricky to access in the winter. I also remind my clients that dogs aren’t allowed at this location.
I have to be honest about the rocky relationship I have with mini sessions. I only offer them once or twice a year because they are quite stressful. I struggle having to limit the shooting time to 20 minutes when I typically shoot for at least 60. However, they do work great for small families like this. We were able to get a good variety of photos including some individuals of their little one, some couple photos, and plenty of different family shots. Jordan Pines is a good location because you can get 3 or 4 different backdrops just by pivoting 45 degrees..
With that said, I do recommend booking a full family session if you have more than one child. You will get a much fuller gallery with images that you’ll cherish forever. I also find that kids cooperate so much better when I’m not rushing them from one shot to the next. If you’re interested in booking a session, you can reach out to me here.
