I love getting to meet new families, especially when taking extended family photos! This group was together for Christmas and scheduled pictures the day after. They wanted to stay around Salt Lake, so I suggested some parks. Mom asked about Little Dell Reservoir. I had never heard of it, but decided to scout it out to see how it looked. Despite being the middle of winter, this location was stunning. The glassy water and snowy mountains made for the perfect backdrop.
One of my favorite parts of working with families is getting to watch how they interact. This family was so sweet and patient with each other despite how COLD it was! You would not even be able to tell that it was in the low 30’s based off everyone’s smiles and laughter.
Little Dell Reservoir is a small man-made lake in the western Wasatch Mountains near Emigration Canyon. It is a popular spot for fishing, kayaking, and non-motorized boats. There’s a free parking lot up at the top and a paved road to walk down toward the water. I’m itching to get back up there in the spring and summer as I can only imagine how gorgeous it looks!
Over the last couple years I have grown to love extended family photos. They are a fun challenge and a great way to serve families. As a Utah photographer, I’ve photographed some very large groups! Extended family sessions are perfect for those big group shots as well as individuals of each family. They typically last about 90 minutes and you get a lot of bang for your buck! I would love to work with your family! If you’re interested in booking an extended family session, please reach out here.
