This Snowbasin family session was one for the books! I have been friends with Karlee since high school and absolutely adore her. She is one of the sweetest and funniest people I know. I had taken some photos of her and Mike near the beginning of my photography journey. Karlee is a true friend for coming back after that! Her and Mike now have the cutest 1 year old girl who wasn’t sure what to think about me!
Karlee booked this family session when there was still snow on the ground. It was hard to imagine that we would ever have spring flowers! The one perk of this year’s eternal winter is that I’ve never seen the mountains so lush! I scouted out the areas around Snowbasin Resort the week before their session and could not believe how beautiful everything looked. These yellow flowers and thick green grass were the perfect backdrop for this cute family. The best part is that we only had to walk a few yards off the side of the road.
The evening of Karlee’s session, I decided to get there a few minutes early so that I could plan it all out. I bypassed the spot we were supposed to meet and drove down a little further. I had some extra time and wanted to check out another spot I had shot at previously. Old Snowbasin road comes to a peak (our meeting spot) before descending again for about a mile. When I got down to the bottom of the road, my car started acting funny. I decided to pull off and turn off the car. When I went to start it again I realized I was in trouble. I called my husband and he walked me through how to jumpstart it with a battery charger that I was so glad I had in the trunk. It started and I headed back up to the hill to our meeting spot.
Right when I pulled off the road it died again. I knew there was no way I would make it home so I put a request in to AAA for a tow truck, thinking it would take at least an hour. I immediately got a call from the tow truck driver that he was 30 minutes out. This was right as Karlee and her family arrived. I started shooting and was so stressed out the whole time. It all worked out great and we got all of the shots we needed just in time for me to send my car off!
I’m so obsessed with how these pictures turned out! Karlee and Mike adore that cute girl and I was so honored that I could capture that love.
