As a Utah wedding photographer, I’ve photographed TONS of temple weddings. However, this was my first time photographing a wedding at the Logan Temple. It was a beautiful and sunny day when Lizz + Chase got married. I captured their exit before we headed over to the other side of the temple for some group and family photos in the shade. After about 40 minutes of family photos, we took a few portraits of the bride and groom.
Because it was so hot and sunny, we ended up only getting a few couple portraits before leaving the temple. Wedding days can be stressful and fast-paced. Often, family photos take much longer than anticipated because of the amount of people. Lizz and Chase were already pretty tired and ready to relax a bit during their luncheon. We made the call to only take a handful of portraits at the temple. We were all comfortable with that decision for one reason: they had booked a formal session with me prior to the wedding day. Their formal session was at a location that they loved on a day that was stress-free (and cooler). They had plenty of photos to print for the reception and their home. I always strongly recommend formal sessions to couples who book with me.
I returned that evening to photograph their reception at the Union Station in Ogden. It’s one of the coolest venues in the area with exposed brick and beautiful evening light. It was so perfect and beautiful. They were smart to hire a day-of wedding coordinator who took care of the food, decorating, and emceeing. Mckenna at Simply Made Weddings is incredibly professional and kind.
