It still feels like the dead of winter in Utah, but Antelope Island made us feel like we were on a breezy beach! It was cold and windy but these three made the most of it with this family session. Last time I photographed this family, baby R was still a newborn. It was so fun to be able to capture his cute personality and interactions with his two favorite people. I will never get tired of freezing those precious moments between loved ones.
Antelope Island sits on the north end of the Great Salt Lake. It is accessed via a 7 mile causeway off of Antelope Drive in Layton, UT. It is home to some deer, bob cats, antelopes, and bison. This island is popular for camping, biking, and photography.
Although it was chilly, this is actually the best time to take photos here. Once the temperature rises, the bugs come out. Given the amount of rain and snow we got this year I can only imagine how many mosquitos and gnats will be hanging out there soon. Antelope Island is a stunning backdrop for any type of lifestyle photography. The rocks, sand, and water add the most idyllic beachy vibes with the creamiest, neutral tones. I loved being able to see the snowy mountains far in the distance. Don’t get me started on the gorgeous, unobstructed sunsets.
